Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It is NOT ME who has the worst earache on the planet from swimming Friday. It was NOT ME whom the doctor told that my ear canal was almost swollen shut from infection. It's NOT been hurting less than 24 hours. I know my history of ear infections and swimming and definately would not do something stupid like swim without ear plugs and get swimmers ear. I KNOW better than that.

It was also NOT ME who, almost on a daily basis, laughs so hard I cry, thus getting my fellow coworkers giggling at my silliness. It's NOT an ugly vicious cycle. Totally not.

It's been a while....

Holy earache Batman!

I went swimming at the local YWCA on Friday and my right ear (the one that ALWAYS gets infected) is aching so bad. I'm sure it's just swimmers ear but OUCH! It's been a long time since water has been in these ears. Well, except for showering of course.

Things have been really hectic and busy at work. A patient for our heart failure clinic went into respiratory arrest 2 weeks ago when he was coming in. We put him in a wheelchair and he immediately turned blue and was unresponsive. We called a code blue and could not find a pulse. We started doing CPR and I relieved a nurse doing chest compressions. I had to get someone to relieve me though because my hands were so sweaty from doing compressions that my palms were just sliding around and my pumps weren't effective. We got his pulse back but he was already showing signs of brain damage when the code team took him to the ED. He passed away about a week later.

DS is an ill box today. He has just been grumpy and clingy. Nothing will please him. I wonder if he's teething but he tells me his teeth don't hurt.

Some random pics from the past month....

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It was NOT ME who, while painting her bedroom this weekend, got paint in her hair. My husband did NOT call me Cruella DeVille because of the white streak running through my dark hair. I DO NOT know how it happened except that I was painting a baseboard and could NOT have possibly twisted my head around to look at my hubby, inadvertantly getting the white paint in my hair.

The following phrases were definately NOT said over the coarse of this weekend while painting:

You look like Cruella DeVille
I think you've been inhaling too many paint fumes.
Pepe Lepew smells better than that thing!

It was NOT ME who, while putting stuff in our basement during the beginning of a bad thunderstorm, saw a big flash of lightning and skittered my large rear end up the stairs and back into the safety of my house. I am in NO WAY shape or form absolutely PETRIFIED of storms since the age of 12 when lightning hit my house and caught my bed on fire. Nope, not me.

It is NOT my child who has not bad a bath since Wednesday because on bath night, there were some SEVERE storms (tornadoes and hail) in the area. I know better than to put my child in a bathtub full of water when there's lightning around. It's a good thing DS doesn't get too sweaty at school. Bath time will be here shortly.

It is NOT our basement that is flooded with at least 4 inches of water because of the aforementioned storms from last night. It was NOT ME who tried to WetVac some of the water up, and upon remembering it was pitch black outside and I was standing ankle deep in murky water, hightailed my behind out of the basement because, as I said to my hubby "It's too freakin creepy down there when it's dark outside!"

Not Me! Monday

It was NOT ME who tried to walk through a completely closed door. I am always very graceful and would never try to walk through a door when the door wasn't completely open. It's not my fault the handle didn't go down all the way before my feet kept carrying my momentum forward.

It was also definately NOT ME who, while not having a tissue handy, tried to wipe my son's nose and pry out the little things that live in there (boogers), DID NOT try to wipe the boogers onto the back of the sofa cushion. When it wouldn't detach itself from my fingers, I DID NOT reluctantly got up, found a tissue, and disposed of the nasty thing.

Busy

Wow life has been busy the past couple of weeks. Work has been slammed at the hospital and DS had a CAT scan.

To make a long story short, he has calcium deposits on his adrenal glands and nobody knew why. His ped wanted him to have a CAT scan for an in depth view. He had a reaction to the contrast and flushed badly. He also started vomiting through out the afternoon. The next morning he was fine though.

Poor DH is sick with a nasty sinus infection. He's pitiful. He's been feverish on and off the past couple of days and I hope he feels better soon.

Good food, good friends

Mmmm, just shared a piece of chocolate cake with my hubby. It was DELICIOUS!

We were supposed to go to a benefit for a police officer killed in the fall but DH's knee was hurting him badly. He fell on the back deck on some ice a couple of days ago and twisted his knee. This is the same knee he had surgery on about a year and a half ago.

Work is going well. We've been really busy in some classes and really slow in others. We can't seem to have an average size class, they are all too big or too small.

Tonight we went out to eat at Macaroni Grill, where I used to work about 2.5 years ago. I haven't been in there in a LONG time. I saw some familiar faces and got lots of hugs and comments about DS, how big he was and how adorable he was (of course). We sat in one of my friend's sections and she took care of us. I haven't seen her in almost a year but we keep in touch through facebook. We talked and laughed and caught up. We had a good time and ate delicious food. Grilled chicken with a honey balsalmic glaze, with angel hair pasta and sundried tomatoes, as well as broccoli. It was so good. I've missed the food there.

My MIL is staying the night tonight because we had planned to go to the benefit and be out late, but since we aren't going, she decided to stay anyways. That's fine with me. I get along well with her and we usually spend the weekends together anyways. DH is working on someone's laptop currently and I think I'll read more in my book.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It was NOT ME who was suprised by a random sneeze while eating dinner the other night. I was happily chewing my food and ACHOO!!!!! snuck in there. Needless to say, it was NOT snot that rolled out of my nose and my semi-chewed dinner did NOT go flying out. I would ALWAYS cover my mouth when I sneeze and follow proper rules when sneezing. Also, when I was caught off guard by said sneeze, the aforementioned snot did NOT stream out of my nose and onto my shirt sleeve. Nope, that certainly did not happen. Even if it did, it is WAY too gross to ever admit to on my blog. Yuck.

I have NOT recently started grinding my teeth at night at it really DOES NOT bother my husband. I don't recall him telling me he wanted to smother me with my pillow just so I would stop grinding my teeth. Because, you know it's hard to grind your teeth when there is not oxygen or blood flow going to your brain. Nope, that never happened.

Along those same lines, it was NOT me who, while wearing a mouthgard for the above NOT teeth grinding. I felt a sneeze coming on (thanks for the warning this time!!) and took the mouthgard out. The stupid sneeze vanished. So I put my mouthgard back in, only to have a sneaky sneeze make it's presence known in the form of me NOT sneezing my mouthgard out and it hitting the wall beside my bed. That is just too ridiculous to happen.

It was NOT MY HUSBAND who now owes me a new tire on my vehicle because he wasn't paying attention and clipped a curb. We did NOT get out of the car and hear SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS coming from my driver's side front tire. It was not completely flat. It was not snowing REALLY hard at this time and we were trying to go eat dinner with my MIL. I did not take DS inside to eat while I stood shivering and getting soaked by the snow (because I don't have anything to cover my head. Did I mention I was already getting sick?) It was NOT me who stood outside for 30 minutes with my DH while he attempted to change my tire in the freezing cold and blowing snow.

Lastly, it was DEFINATELY not me who sent a text message to a friend wishing him a happy birthday, only to get a message back from him stating that it was NOT his birthday. OOPS! I keep close track of all my friends birthdays and would NEVER wish happy birthday to the wrong person. Nope, not me.

It's been a long week!!

Sick weekend

Thursday DS started coughing in the afternoon. That night he was fine. The following morning he woke up with a 101 fever. That progressed into a 103 fever. The cough also became very "barky" sounding, which i knew wasn't so good. During this whole time he was his usual pleasant self, although he took more breaks while he was playing.

Saturday DH took him to the dr as i was working. They did some chest xrays and various things (during which he was wonderful i was told) and he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. They prescribed antibiotics and now 36 hours lately his fever i think has finally run its course but his cough is still NASTY sounding and his nose is running CONSTANTLY but at least it's clear.

Last night as i was trying to go to sleep, he started calling out for me. I went to him and laid with him on the couch for a little bit and patted his back to try to keep his cough from getting stuck in his throat. I eventually sat with him on the floor of the bathroom with the hot water in the shower running full blast. I spent the night on the floor of his room because everytime i walked out of his room he would cry pitifully. It wasn't the most pleasant night, but we've had worse and i'm hoping tonight is better.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It is NOT ME who usually runs out to her car in her nightgown (in 20 and 30 degree weather mind you) to start the car so it can warm up. I ALWAYS dress properly and always wear shoes outside when the sidewalk is freezing and it's 14 degrees outside. I would never risk getting sick to make sure my vehicle is warm for me and my child. Nope, not me.

It's also not me who fibbed to her husband. A few days ago he called me from work to ask me what I was doing. I fibbed and said "Folding clothes" because I didn't want to tell him I was actually sitting on the computer blaring music from YouTube and wasting time doing NOTHING. To cancel out the fib i told my hubby, i then folded lots of the laundry and even cleaned the kitchen too. I would NEVER fib to my spouse because i'm too lazy to tell him that i'm REALLY just sitting on my tailbone. Nope, not me.

Sundays

Last summer, I decided I wanted to paint the bathroom in our hallway a deep red.

Today, I decided I hated the color. So I taped the place up and worked on the trim. I unscrewed wall plates and towel racks, etc and climbed up on the counters. My arms and shoulders are so sore right now.

We were at Subway for lunch earlier today and DS passed gas and said excuse me. I statred giggling at him pooting and then he kept saying "I pooted Mama, i pooted!" I kept trying to hide my face so he wouldn't see me laughing, but I could hear him. I had tears rolling down my face because he kept shouting about him pooting while we were trying to hush him. Good things Subway wasn't very crowded. Only my child.

I have an eye appointment coming up Wednesday and i'm going to talk to them about Lasik. I know it's expensive but as much money as i spend and have spend in contacts and supplies over the past 13 years, i could more than pay for the surgery. I can't STAND having my eyes dilated. It always gives me a headache because i have to leave my contacts out and sit in a room for 20 minutes while the drops work.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It was not me who, while having adult time with my DH last night, that I um, fell off the bed, bumping my rear end on the bedrail. I did NOT also bang my bare foot on the wall and did NOT slide gracefully to the floor. My bottom does NOT have a large bruise on it and it definately is NOT sore. Nope, not my butt.

It was also NOT ME who, for lack of a tissue, wiped her son's runny nose on her snow white glove, then continued to wear said snotty glove because I forgot about the snot swipe. Nope, not me. I am ALWAYS prepared with tissues and things that my child could potentially need.

It was not ME and my coworkers who were doing the Chicken Dance and Electric Slide because a fun cd came on. Nope, not us. We are professional working adults in the medical field and would NEVER get silly enough to dance like zanies around our heart patients, just for their (come on i mean OUR) amusement. Not around my job.

Last but not least, it was NOT ME who giggled like a buffoon because I also kicked one of my coworkers while trying to lean down and pick up a patient's medical log off the floor. I apparently did NOT kick my leg up behind me to balance myself and inadvertantly kicked her. Nope, it definately wasn't me.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

It was NOT ME who let my child eat his bedtime snack in the bathtub because I was trying to hurry him into bed but he wanted a snack and he needed a bath as well. Kill two birds with one stone I say. I would never let my DS eat a soggy banana because it kept falling into the bathtub. Nope, not me.

It was also NOT ME who started laughing at her son while I was cutting his nails because I told him if he did not hold still and listen, then I would (insert appropriate punishment here: caning, quartering, waterboarding, etc) him. He said "Look Mama I'm listening!" and sat still as you please. It wasn't me who laughed until I cried because he looked so serious while I was sitting back giggling. Nope, I would NEVER laugh at his expense.

While we're on the subject, I would NEVER NEVER bribe my child to go pee in the potty because I'm tired and hungry. "Yes sweetie, if you pee in the potty, I'll let you play with your new train and stay up late and I'll buy you a Ferrari and etc..." I'm a better mom than that and I have the most patience in the world with my toddler.

And finally, it is NOT ME who counts going to the grocery store at 9pm without my child or husband as "me time". I DO NOT always listen to children's cds in the car with DS and going to the store is NOT my chance to listen to grown up music and just be by myself for an hour. Too bad I only live 2 minutes from the grocery store....

Date Night

Friday night DH and I were supposed to go to dinner and a movie since his mom had the little one. We got all gussied up (read: I put on makeup!) and went to dinner at Applebee's. We needed to kill some time before the movie started so we went to a local bookstore. We were getting some books and gifts for the nieces and nephew and were reading some books ourselves when my eyes started to tear and burn and water. I wear contacts and don't wear makeup very often so my eyes are pretty sensitive to no matter what makeup I use. I went into the bathroom to wash off my makeup but it just made it worse. So we decided to head home where I could properly vacate the offending makeup from my face.

Then we just watched a movie from home. It wasn't quite what I was wanting our date night to be but at least we got to enjoy a yummy dinner alone.

Currently I'm waiting for the hashbrown casserole that DH fixed to finish baking so we can eat breakfast. We were hoping it would warm up enough outside for us to go to the local park and let DS play and for DH to play as well. He got a bunch of remote control cars for Christmas and he's been itching to play with them. Our backyard is too muddy from a lot of rain lately so we were going to go to a local ballfield. I'm hoping it's not too muddy either.

Without further ado, pictures from our date night BEFORE the makeup mishap. Excuse DH's strange face in them. He was not drunk or high in any of them, he was being silly.

Silly DH cheesing after I told him he looked sleepy in the previous pics.
